None of us are born because we wanted it. Our will does not come into our own creation. We are born because the Creator who fashioned and created the entire creation, wanted us to be part of it. We are not just individuals but also part of something greater than us, starting from our families to our societies to the whole of humanity but it does not end there. It goes on to everything around us and way beyond the land, the seas, the forests, the deserts, the mountains, the valleys, the animals and birds, all creatures which exist, those we know and those we do not know. It extends to fruits and flowers and everything in nature and goes beyond to the planets and the stars and the myriad galaxies. If you look at yourself, you are just a person, but you are in reality a piece in the timeline of a vast picture, a piece without which the picture in that particular timeline would be incomplete. And you have been fashioned with a body which performs functions you are not even aware of, fashioned with a heart and emotions and intellect. You did not just happen, you were wanted and designed, your entire destiny was written by One who has boundless mercy and knowledge and wisdom and could have chosen to create another in your place but chose you. Chose you, your ancestry, your genes, fashioned your looks and your body, your heart, mind and soul. Chose your spouse and abode. Gave you your will. But what is the reason? Why were we created? To worship. To know our Creator, to be grateful to Him and to adore Him. How do we know Him if we cannot see Him. We know Him through ourselves, through everything we see around us where ever we look. Feel Him in the breeze that soothes you as it blows gently. See Him in the rain that brings new life to the parched Earth. See His strength in every blade of grass that pushes its way out of the hard earth. See Him in the bird in flight and how it holds itself aloft, He is the One who taught the bees to make honey, who controls the winds and the seas and the seasons. He who has made you one with His wonderful Creation so why would your heart not fill over with gratitude, why would you not fall on your knees with adoration. Reflect upon everything in Creation and yourself and your life as a whole. We were born to worship but what is worship. Worship is a grateful heart and prayer is a part of worship but worship is much more, it is to honour this life we have been given by striving to live it with honour and integrity, by being kind, generous, merciful not just to humans but also other creatures. By respecting and preserving the environment. By growing in knowledge and wisdom. By living a just life. By not indulging in anything that harms another in anyway. By speaking kind words to others. By giving the rights of your time, your kindness and generosity to your relatives. By forgiving those who hurt you and not holding grudges. By living a life of purity and piety and trying to come closer to your Creator with thought word and deed. When you have done that then you have answered the question “Why was I born, for neither you nor anything that exists was Created in vain, without purpose or plan.
